About the Artist

At its best, art is a blend of reality, imagination and emotion. I can’t claim always to achieve that magical mix, but whenever possible, it is what I strive for – to draw the viewer into a beautiful fantasy world.

I have had solo exhibitions at venues including the Haworth Art Gallery, Samlesbury Hall and Murray Edwards College, Cambridge. Other works have been shown at the Serpentine Gallery, Liberty’s of London, the Bishop’s Palace at Wells and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.  I have been a major prize winner in a number of national competitions and I have been employed as a demonstrator by Daler Rowney and Faber Castell. The majority of my pictures are in private collections in the UK; others are in Spain, India, Switzerland, Nigeria, Australia, Singapore and the USA.

In addition to painting, I have pursued my love of art by obtaining a Ph.D in Art History and Visual Culture at the University of Manchester, as a result of which I give lectures in my specialist fields – the artist Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, and the ancient city of Pompeii.
